Utility Trailers: Increase the
load you can move
Utility
trailer: Improve the amount of cargo you can haul
A utility trailer is a quick and
relatively inexpensive way to expand the load carrying
abilities of your car, truck, SUV or van. If you have a
small car and go to any of the big box home improvement
stores, you can barely fit a bag of topsoil or bark
mulch into the trunk. You also risk getting dirt all
over your trunk if a bag splits or rips open, not to
mention hurting your back when bending over your trunk,
getting the cargo in and out. With a small utility
trailer, you can avoid many of the risks of loading and
unloading your bought items into your car. When
towing a trailer, it is imperative that other drivers
can see what your intentions are if you are turning or
changing lanes. Therefore, for added safety attach
a set of after market
mirror signal lights to the right side and left
side mirrors of your vehicle.
There
are many sizes of utility trailers and some come with
ramps that will assist you when you are trying to load
larger item such as a lawn tractor, roto-tiller or
motorcycle. Some come with high sides, low sides, no
sides or enclosed. It is important to note that before
you buy a trailer, you need to ensure your vehicle is
able to pull it safely. Most owner’s manuals have a
section in them about how big a trailer you vehicle is
capable of pulling. Do not ever exceed these
recommendations as the out come could be very costly.
If you are unsure if you automobile is capable of
pulling a trailer or you are unsure of your car’s
limitation, check with a local service department of a
dealership that would be able to service your vehicle.
They should be able to tell you the size of the trailer
your vehicle can haul. Here is a list of every type of
